Console collection MDW 24'
Konstantin Achkov -sculptor/designer (three-time biennial participant) and Кaloyan Vasilev designer/ expert in wood and epoxy resin have come together under the joint project combining elements of the sculpture school of thought and functionality. By the act of combining the two, the goal of our work is to create something artsy with the day to day functional qualities of furniture.
Our logic is based on how products should look and what distinct qualities they should contain in order to be functional.
To be absolutely precise- our goal is to create something that is not only in its full form but also entirely unique.
To achieve uniqueness in our designs we’ve chose to work with epoxy resin, having it’s amazing opportunities to combine colours and different materials.
These elements are to be handmade by KA and his speciality as a sculptor as well as KV and his deep experience, who will further impact and guarantee the quality of each product.
The products we’ve created are intuitively divided into groups by the materials being used into their creation, as the final form is thiught of via the characteristics and capabilities of each material.
They are also grouped via the specific ways in which they can be assembled and logic of the form. All of our creations are a modernistic mix of minimalism, brutalism, and futurism, where we’ve incorporated an element of speed as well. Our aim is to display flawless linking elements, which are to be as intermediaries between the main console flat piece and the functional details of the product, such as the legs, the seat and the backrest. By doing so, the main panel is kept as a flat two sided plastic, over which we have the freedom to create different functionalities.
